I’m Penina Levy, a product designer born and raised in the US and currently based in Israel.
These days I’m a freelance designer working with small-medium sized startups and small businesses on everything from complex finance dashboards to marketing websites. Before becoming a freelancer I was designing at Qwix, a startup that was building a SaaS platform to improve small-business accounting for both accounting firms as well as small business owners.
At Qwix I spent some time tinkering with upload flows and data table design (filter and search patterns get me excited 🤓), scoping a complex problem space, designing interactions that balance the competing needs of different user types (challenging! 🧠), helping a new company formulate a strong UX strategy and yes, learning loads about bookkeeping and taxes (spoiler: they’re surprisingly more interesting than they sound 😉).
Enabling people to navigate through the complexities of their daily lives in a smoother, more intuitive way gets me nerd-level excited. I enjoy tackling complex problems and systems, digging deep to understand what users really need, and using the power of beautiful and thoughtful design to simplify, streamline and speed up the stuff people need to get done.
Before discovering UX design, I was an educator with a passion for designing digital learning experiences. In my capacity as a teacher I was challenged daily to problem solve, communicate, and listen to my students in order to help them grow and achieve their goals. For me, product design isn't all that different: I try my best to empathize with users on a deep level, think of creative solutions to the challenges they are facing, and communicate with those around me - from stakeholders to fellow designers to engineers.
When I'm not designing you can find me playing volleyball 🏐 baking something yummy 🍪 or curled up with a good book 📖
